We are delighted to be working directly with the iconic Bodega y Cavas de Weinert.
Located in the heart of the famous Mendoza region in Luján de Cuyo, Don Bernardo Weinert founded Bodega y Cavas de Weinert after acquiring the building in 1974 and joining forces with renowned winemaker, Rául de la Mota.
Don Bernardo Weinert is a man whose business philosophy is very simple: “As long as you have your own philosophy and keep it over the years, you will be well on the way.”
Introducing the latest technology after an extensive renovation of the 19th century winery, Bernardo and Rául soon established the famous quality associated with Weinert today. The release of the 1977 vintage of Malbec Estrella became a legend and is one of the first 100% Malbecs to be showcased internationally as a fine wine. Seventeen years later, the second vintage of Estrella was released.
Hubert Weber, a Swiss oenologist joined Bodega Weinert in 1996 as winemaker. Since joining the Bodega, Hubert has continued the storied history of producing some of the finest wine in Argentina. The speciality of aged Malbec, along with other varieties, is at home in Luján de Cuyo. “The best terroir for Malbec”, Weber uses his Swiss precision and a strict criterion when purchasing and selecting grapes from small grape growers to produce the wine we are proud to stock at Firth & Co.
Carrascal Tinto
Carrascal is a neighbourhood in Mendoza where Augustinian monks produced clay amphorae for the transportation of wine between the 18th and 19th Century.
A fruit forward nose based on the blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot gives a youthful character to this wine. Its well defined body given by the ageing of 24 months in oak casks reflects a harmony which makes this wine an argentine classic. Its gastronomic versatility makes it an ideal match for grilled vegetables, barbecue, pasta and various semi-hard cheeses.
Carrascal Malbec
Carrascal reflects the joviality and power of Mendoza fruit. A 100% Malbec from vineyards of Lujan de Cuyo of 15-50 years of age. Its ageing process of 18 months in large French oak casks add earthiness to its typical ripe plums, dark cherries and violet notes.

Weinert Malbec
Made from selected vineyards of 70-110 years of age within the region of Lujan de Cuyo, Weinert Malbec outstands by its bright ruby colour and aromatic depth dominated by dried red fruits, cedar notes and liquorice. The ageing and harmonisation in large French oak casks gives it’s distinctive character, backed by Weinert’s reputation of classic mature vintages.

Weinert Merlot
Weinert Merlot is an expression of Lujan de Cuyo’s older vines and terroir, reflected on the earthy and deep aromatic complexity combined with tertiary notes of black tea leaves and thymes notes given by its ageing of 8 years in large French oak casks.
