Scored 93 points by James Suckling, he writes “A bright, fruity wine with cherries and walnuts, as well as hints of burnt lemon. It’s medium-bodied with pretty fruit and a fruity finish. Hints of bark add to the complexity. Delicious and balanced. Drink now.” Pairs well with pasta-based courses, red meat or game. Morellino is the local name for Sangiovese in Southern Tuscany, and was put on the map by producer Elisabetta Geppetti. A good example of a super-Tuscan, this Riserva (meaning it has been aged longer in Solvenian Oak) includes 10% Cabernet Sauvignon which adds more structure and polish, balancing a wine that is wonderful to drink or can be laid down for the future.
