More Information
Bring a touch of Bordeaux tradition to the table with Château Ballan-Larquette, an approachable and characterful red wine from the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Produced by Vignobles Chaigne & Fils, this classic Claret showcases the generous fruit and balanced structure that make the region’s wines such enduring favourites.
Made from traditional Bordeaux grape varieties, the wine combines the rounded, supple character of Merlot with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the depth of Malbec. The result is an appealingly smooth red, with generous flavours of ripe blackcurrant, plum and cherry, complemented by subtle savoury notes and gentle spice. Medium-bodied and easy to enjoy, it offers plenty of traditional claret character without feeling overly heavy or austere. The Magnum format makes this wine particularly well suited to entertaining, family gatherings and relaxed celebrations. Holding the equivalent of two standard bottles, it is ideal for sharing around the dinner table and makes an attractive centrepiece for any occasion. The larger format is also traditionally associated with slower wine development, making it an appealing choice for those looking to enjoy Bordeaux in a more generous presentation. Whether served alongside a Sunday roast, a barbecue or a selection of French-inspired dishes, Château Ballan-Larquette is a versatile and dependable Bordeaux red, full of approachable fruit and classic regional charm. The Firth & Co house claret for many years, consistently good and easy drinking Bordeaux.

Château Ballan-Larquette is produced by Vignobles Chaigne & Fils, a family wine business based in the Entre-Deux-Mers area of Bordeaux. The estate’s history is closely associated with the Chaigne family, who have developed their vineyards and winemaking operation over several generations.
Régis Chaigne has continued the family’s work, building on the foundations laid by his parents, who specialised in viticulture at the estate from 1973. Over the years, the business has expanded its vineyard holdings, modernised its winemaking facilities and developed a range of Bordeaux wines that reflect the character of the surrounding landscape.
Located in the broader Entre-Deux-Mers region, the vineyards benefit from the varied soils and favourable growing conditions of this part of Bordeaux. The estate produces wines that showcase traditional Bordeaux grape varieties, with an emphasis on fruit, balance and approachability. Château Ballan-Larquette Rouge is a fine example of its accessible house style: a straightforward, enjoyable claret made for sharing around the table.
