More Information

Discover a distinctive expression of Pauillac from the renowned team behind Château Lafite Rothschild. Drawn from a historic hamlet on the Lafite estate, this wine offers a fascinating interpretation of the estate’s terroir, combining the structure and depth associated with the Médoc with a more approachable, fruit-focused personality.

Situated to the east, between the château and the Gironde estuary, the vineyards occupy a distinctive landscape of gravelly ridges and cooler, clay-rich soils. Their more northerly exposure creates a later-ripening environment, giving the grapes a different character from the estate’s classic gravelly sites. These conditions help shape a wine with its own identity, marked by freshness, precision and complexity. Made by the experienced Lafite winemaking team in the estate’s own winery, Anseillan follows traditional Bordeaux winemaking practices. Fermentation takes place in a combination of wooden, concrete and stainless-steel vats, with gentle extraction to preserve the character of the fruit and develop balanced tannins. Maturation in French oak barrels adds structure and subtle complexity. In the glass, expect an expressive red Bordeaux profile, with dark berry fruit, ripe cherry and savoury notes complemented by hints of tobacco, spice and oak. The palate combines generous fruit with freshness and finely shaped tannins, leading to a composed, lingering finish. A sophisticated and characterful, it offers an opportunity to discover another side of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates.
