More Information

Bacchus, Chapel Down, Kent, England

Fresh, aromatic and full of English character, Chapel Down Bacchus is a vibrant dry white wine from one of England’s best-known wine producers. Grown in the Garden of England, this expressive wine showcases the distinctive Bacchus grape, celebrated for its fragrant floral aromas, crisp citrus character and refreshing acidity.

Chapel Down sources its grapes from vineyards across the South East of England, predominantly in Kent, with additional fruit from Sussex and Essex. The region’s combination of chalk, clay and loam soils, together with its relatively warm maritime climate, provides favourable conditions for producing aromatic, cool-climate white wines.

The winemaking is designed to preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit. Grapes are whole-bunch pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then matured on its lees for around six months before blending and clarification, helping to develop texture while retaining its lively aromatic profile.

On the nose, expect fragrant elderflower, grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with citrus zest, juicy fruit and a delicate herbaceous edge, leading to a clean, lively finish. Its aromatic style makes it an appealing English alternative to Sauvignon Blanc, particularly for those who enjoy fresh, zesty white wines.

Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or alongside fresh seafood, grilled fish, summer salads, chicken and lightly spiced Thai cuisine.
