More Information

A distinguished expression of the Haut-Médoc, Château Caronne Ste-Gemme is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux with an appealing combination of ripe fruit, elegant structure and traditional Médoc character. Owned by the Nony-Borie family since 1900, the estate has built a reputation for producing beautifully balanced wines that offer both depth and finesse.

Situated in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, close to the prestigious vineyards of Saint-Julien, the château benefits from an exceptional gravel-rich terroir. Deep gravel soils, with an iron-rich sandstone subsoil and areas of clay, provide excellent conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. These classic Bordeaux varieties combine to create a wine with expressive fruit, refined tannins and the structure for which the Médoc is renowned. In the glass, expect an attractive deep ruby colour, with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry, complemented by nuances of cedar, tobacco, subtle spice and gently toasted oak. The palate is traditionally Bordeaux in style: concentrated yet elegant, with layers of dark fruit supported by fresh acidity and finely integrated tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and definition, while Merlot brings softness and generous fruit. Presented in a 1.5L Magnum, this is an excellent choice for dinner parties, special occasions and celebratory gatherings. The larger format is particularly attractive for sharing and is traditionally associated with slower, more gradual wine development. A fine example of classic Haut-Médoc character, Château Caronne Ste-Gemme combines heritage, terroir and timeless Bordeaux elegance.
