More Information
Domaine de la Chapelle Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Les Grands Climats’ showcases the elegance and complexity of Chardonnay from the heart of the Mâconnais. Produced from carefully selected, limestone-rich vineyard parcels, this expressive white burgundy magnum combines generous ripe fruit with freshness, precision and a distinctive mineral character.
The nose opens with inviting aromas of pear, ripe apple and yellow stone fruits, accompanied by delicate floral notes and hints of almond. Subtle flinty and gently toasted nuances add further complexity. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with a lovely balance between rounded fruit, crisp acidity and a finely textured, mineral backbone. Thoughtful ageing in a combination of barrel and tank helps bring depth and gentle richness while preserving the wine’s freshness and purity. Elegant yet generous, this is a wonderful example of modern Pouilly-Fuissé: expressive, beautifully balanced and with an impressive sense of place. Presented in a 1.5L Magnum, it is particularly well suited to entertaining, celebratory meals and sharing with friends. The larger format also makes an attractive centrepiece for the table.A beautifully elegant white Burgundy with expressive aromas of ripe stone fruits, fresh pear and delicate white flowers. Domaine de la Chapelle is a family-run estate based in the village of Solutré-Pouilly, in the heart of Burgundy’s Mâconnais wine region. The domaine was acquired by Pascal Rollet in 2005 and is now run by Pascal and his son Thomas. With vineyard holdings across the area, the family concentrates on producing expressive Chardonnay wines that reflect the character of their individual vineyard sites.
The estate’s approach combines careful vineyard work with a considered, traditional approach to winemaking. Grapes are harvested by hand and handled gently, with fermentation and maturation taking place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and oak barrels. This allows the wines to develop texture and complexity while retaining the freshness and purity of the fruit.
The ‘Les Grands Climats’ cuvée demonstrates the appeal of the Mâconnais, where limestone-rich soils and favourable exposures help produce Chardonnay with both ripe fruit character and mineral precision. The result is a wine that brings together the generosity of southern Burgundy with the elegance and finesse associated with fine white Burgundy.
