Displaying a fresh blueberry taste, hinting subtle notes of exotic spices, olive brine with minimal oak influence. Finely woven tannins seamlessly integrated with a vibrant, well-balanced acidity, elegantly adding depth and structure to this iconic, full-bodied Shiraz.
Following success of early sherries and fortified wines, Dr Christopher and Mary Penfold planted their vine cuttings and established Penfolds vineyard at Magill Estate. Retiring in 1884, passing management to her daughter, Mary Penfold had set a clear agenda in experimenting with new methods of wine production with Penfolds legacy well on its way to fruition by the time of her death in 1896 ; Ultimately becoming South Australia’s biggest winery by 1907.
Consistent in pioneering endeavors, Penfolds continued its development onto the global stage with Chief Winemaker Max Schubert’s experimentation of long-lasting wines, the birth of Penfolds Grange in the 1950’s, a wine which quickly became one of the most revered around the world
During this time, Penfolds created an alternative, a fruit-driven Shiraz with minimal oak influence, thereby releasing the St Henri range, an elegant, exquisite treat with perfect ageing potential.
