Well known for his exquisite Grüner Veltliner, Bernhard Ott has been producing a Gemischter Satz, Cuvée Spectrum, since 2017. A tribute to the varieties of Austria and diversity it has to offer, this wine contains a total of nine varieties, all of which play their part in a wine of great depth and character. Handpicked from a variety of vines dating between 4 and 25 years old, it is then partly fermented on the skin for approximately one to two days. The grapes then go through a gentle pressing, with the juice then going into big wooden oak barrels for a spontaneous fermentation. After a winter in the cellar, the wine is bottle unfiltered. The result is an art in masterful blending, creating a harmonious, expressive wine with complexity. Lively, fresh, fruity with refined acidity and elegant minerality.

One of Austria’s most innovative producers of this variety, the Ott family have been growing and producing wine in the region of Wagram since 1889, with Bernhard, the fourth generation, managing the winery since 1993. Bernhard Ott says
of himself: ‘Ich bin ein Veltliner’ and is a household name in Austria, he is even called Mister Veltliner.

The 28 hectares of vineyards are farmed according to biodynamic principles, with Ott being a founding member of respekt-BIODYN (a group at the forefront of biodynamic viticulture in Austria).

Low intervention winemaking is at the heart of the estate, the result being the finest Grüner Veltliner in Austria.
